MOJO JUJU REVEALS NEW SINGLE ‘A HEART IS NOT A YO-YO’ – Available now
Mojo Juju is 5'3" of wise crackin’, sass mouthin’, jump-jivin’ attitude wrapped up in a Zoot suit and propped up on a Cuban heel. A dynamic vocalist, entertainer and songwriter, forever difficult to pigeonhole, she is versatile and unafraid to challenge the boundaries of genre and style.
Mojo returns today, with a brand new single and a hard left turn; presenting ‘A Heart Is Not A Yo-Yo’, from the forthcoming album due for release in early-2015. The new album is a collaboration with friend and producer Ptero Stylus (Diafrix/Mantra), making for a meeting of two vastly different creative minds. Mojo has hinted that it will be an exploration into ‘pop songwriting’ with throwbacks to Soul, R’n’B and Funk, citing influence from an eclectic range of artists including Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Betty Davis, Gnarls Barkley & Andre 3000. It is certain that this will be a very different album to the last.
In Mojo’s own words: “My focus is and always has been on the songwriting. And I want to explore every angle of that. I’m not too worried about fitting into any categories. I just want to write and I want to be challenged while I’m doing that. Hopefully the result is something good, whatever the genre may be.”
2013 saw Mojo sell-out national headline tours, hit the local festival circuit, and tour Europe opening for acts such as Tony Joe White (USA), Reverend Horton Heat (USA) and Kitty, Daisy & Lewis (UK).
