Following the late withdrawal of Miranda Lambert due to illness, Australia’s hottest country duo and 2011 Golden Guitar winners for ‘Best New Talent’, McAlister Kemp, will open for US country superstar Alan Jackson’s National Arena Tour. The tour kicks off this Friday (March 4) at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne.
"We're totally stoked to have been asked to fill in at late notice and we really want to thank Alan Jackson and the promoters for asking us to be part of this tour. In many ways this is a dream come true for us, so we can't wait to get out there and blow those crowds away', said Drew McAlister and Troy Kemp.
Following the Melbourne show are sold out shows at Acer Arena in Sydney on March 7 and the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on March 10, 11 & 12.
The invitation to open for Alan Jackson follows a fantastic couple of months for McAlister Kemp whose most recent single ‘Hell Yeah’ topped all the major country airplay charts. They are now working on their next single release and music video, set for release at the start of next month.
Fellow ABC Music artist and ARIA nominated Jasmine Rae, initially announced as the opening act, has been bumped up to into Miranda’s spot. Her new album Listen Here is also released this Friday.
McAlister Kemp’s debut album ‘All Kinds Of Tough’ is out now through ABC Music/Universal Music Australia.
On mandolin, ukulele, accordion and guitar, the Exes are a powerhouse of charm and songwriting prowess. Fair warning: this foursome is the most badass female folk band around.
