Justine Clarke Wins ARIA Award for Best Children's Album
Justine Clarke has won the award for Best Children’s Album at the 2018 ARIA Awards, held at The Star on Wednesday, November 28.
From his significant win at the age of 16 on “Australia’s Got Talent” and more recently hailed as “Best New Talent” by Guitar Player Magazine USA Reader’s Poll, Joe Robinson has been knocking people out with his guitar skills for almost half his life. His new album Let Me Introduce You (recorded in Nashville & Detroit) features his vocals, song writing, electric guitar and a full band for the very first time. The album will be released January 20, 2012 through ABC Music/Universal.
On his upcoming album release Joe says, “Let Me Introduce You' is my first vocal record and I guess the conceptual approach has been to combine my 'signature' guitar playing with vocal-based songs for the first time. This is a somewhat 'transitional' album for me and I feel like I’ve dipped my toe into a massive ocean, hence I’m very excited for the future. It was amazing to work with such a phenomenal group of musicians and producers on this album. I’m really proud of it.”
The first single from the album, ‘Out Alive’ is at radio now. Joe describes the song as his way of “combining jazz fusion with pop music…It’s about racing through life, stressing way too much, and then having an epiphany that we are all going to die anyway, so what’s the point in worrying.” You can listen to the song HERE.
Joe Robinson is truly a virtuoso musician. His jaw dropping instrumental stylings have garnered the attention of the public worldwide, as well as many guitar masters. At a young age Joe has played headline shows in major cities all over the globe – including London, New York, Helsinki, Budapest, Sydney, Berlin, Milan, Vienna, Bangkok, Rome, Tokyo and Amsterdam.
Joe began playing guitar as a youth – growing up in the Australian bush. Learning mainly from Youtube, the young prodigy soon began playing and touring with many of the top names in the Australian music industry. The release of his 2005 debut CD Birdseed led to an invitation for the then fourteen year old to perform in Nashville, TN with one of his guitar idols, Tommy Emmanuel. It was this trip which brought him to the attention of Grammy Award winning producer Frank Rogers, who would produce his next outing Time Jumpin, released through ABC / Universal in May 2009. Shortly before the recording of this project, Joe performed on ‘Australia’s Got Talent’ in 2008 and ended up winning the Grand Final to widespread critical acclaim.
Very soon, Joe will return home from the USA with his two musicians (a young R&B rhythm section from Memphis) to debut his new vocal offerings to a home audience. His tour kicks off with five shows at Woodford Folk Festival from 27 December – 01 January. The band will then head to the Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne and regional NSW, finishing up with three shows at the Thredbo Blues Festival on January 13, 14 & 15, 2012.
