It's that time of year again!
The world needs all the help it can get at the moment and you’d be hard-pressed to find a group of people more willing to lend a hand than The Wiggles! So we though we’ve spread a little love and take a look back at some of the moments where The Wiggles lent the world a helping hand.
Social Distancing But Make It Fun
In true Wiggles fashion, the fab four banded together at lightning speed to release this song to help children understand the COVID-19 pandemic. The tune introduces the concept of social distancing to young kids and explains why they might not be able to visit grandma right now. It’s damn catchy too!
ABHW (Always Be Hand Washing)
Our favourite foursome partnered with UNICEF in 2019 to create the handwashing song! The song seeks to motivate millions of children around the world to make washing their hands with soap. It’s a message that’s more important than ever now.
Big Red Car Auction
Every wanted to get behind the wheel of the Big Red Car? Well, for a brief time in 2012 this dream could have been a reality! The Wiggles auctioned off the famous Big Red Car to raise money for SIDS and Kids. After 10 days and 61 bids the iconic vehicle was sold for $37,500 which went straight to the charity.
Red Nose Day
For more than 28 years, The Wiggles have partnered with Red Nose Day to raise much needed funds and awareness for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). The gang have done a laundry list of work with the charity over the years but it always centres on them donning a red nose and encouraging you to do the same.
Emma's Sign Language Time
The Wiggles are for everyone! Which is why in March 2020 they debuted ‘Emma’s Sign Language Time', a special series of videos with Auslan (that’s Australian sign language) translation. First up, a Wiggles classic – ‘Toot Toot, Chugga Chugga, Big Red Car’.
It’s estimated upwards of 10,000 Aboriginal remains are held in museums around the world.
