Jasmine Rae

Jasmine Rae is a three-time ARIA nominated and multi-award winning vocalist, songwriter and entertainer. The engaging and electrifying live performer, with her dynamite, soul-flavoured and heart-wrenching vocals has been described by the Sydney Morning Herald as a "pocket-sized powerhouse." While multiple ARIA winning singer-songwriter Shane Nicholson says Jasmine Rae is "one of the best singers in any genre." Along with her ARIA Award nominations for her album’s If I Want To, Listen Here and Look It Up, Jasmine is the only female solo artist to ever win the prestigious CMC Australian Artist of the Year award, as voted by Australian music fans.

Jasmine also won the inaugural CMC Female Australian Artist of the Year award in 2014 and is a nine-time Golden Guitar finalist - with her most recent nominations being at the 2016 Golden Guitar Awards for Female Artist of the Year and Single of the Year for 'Heartbeat'.

She has also been recognized internationally, winning the 2013 CMA Global Artist of the Year award and being named a 2016 International Songwriting Competition finalist.

“I simply have to write music. It’s always been my way of thinking out loud and figuring things out. Writing and performing allows me express those feelings… to be dramatic… be loud or be fragile… be emotional… be repetitive and be real,” says Jasmine Rae.

Jasmine has also recorded chart topping songs with US stars Joe Nichols and Kellie Pickler, as well as opening national arena tours for GRAMMY winners Brooks & Dunn and Alan Jackson.

Jasmine has performed on several occasions on Channel Seven’s The Morning Show, has appeared on ABC Television program Spicks & Specks and Channel Ten’s Late News and has also performed on nationally televised events such as Channel Nine’s Carols By Candlelight and the State Of Origin, where she performed to over 3.5 million television viewers. She has also performed in support of organizations such as the McGrath Foundation, Variety Australia, Ronald McDonald House, the Steve Waugh Foundation and Tour de Force in East Timor (Timor-Leste).

“For me, performing live is shared experience… between us on stage and the audience, who we are on a journey with. We’re all in it together. An energy is created that can’t be felt anywhere else… other than in that moment… in that room,” says Jasmine Rae.

Locally, Jasmine has ten #1 Australian Country Singles to her credit, including the title track of her latest critically acclaimed album Heartbeat (produced by the GRAMMY winning Luke Wooten), released through ABC Music/Universal Music Australia, and the album’s stunning second single ’When I Found You’. Her single with Pickler also charted in the US iTunes Top 20. Jasmine’s songs and music videos have been streamed over 10 million times and she’s followed and supported by over 34,000 people on Facebook.

After establishing herself as a popular main stage act at major festivals across Australia, 2015/16 saw Jasmine Rae headline her own national tour for the very first time. Most recently, Jasmine was part of the mainstage line-up for the sold-out 2017 CMC Rocks Qld festival, which also featured international superstars Little Big Town and the Dixie Chicks.

Music can change lives. For almost 20 years, the Hush Foundation has been working with renowned Australian artists to create music of joy and calm – originally to support children in hospital, and now enjoyed everywhere from concert halls to living rooms. In this latest offering from the Hush series, pianist Tony Gould and guitarist Peter Petrucci present music that can bring optimism even in the toughest times. The Hush Foundation, under the inspirational leadership of physician Professor Catherine Crock AM, transforms the healthcare experience for patients, families and staff through music and the performing arts. It has produced 17 albums, bringing some of Australia’s finest performers and composers together in collaborative partnerships that engage with the lived experience of people in the health system and other stressful environments. Hush albums are played not only in hospitals, but also in aged care, palliative care and childcare facilities to reduce stress and anxiety. Community and international orchestras also play music composed for Hush. In 2014, Hush’s contribution to Australian music was acknowledged with the APRA/AMCOS Award for Excellence.Gathering of Kindness recognises the power of the small acts of kindness and respect that build trust and create a sense of safety and security in difficult and challenging situations. ‘When we ask patients, their families and those working in healthcare “What matters to you?”’ says Professor Crock, ‘the single word at the top of the list is kindness.’Tony Gould and Peter Petrucci wrote the music on this album with the Hush ‘family’ firmly in mind. ‘We hope they serve at least one of music’s purposes in life, and that is to help calm our fellow humans in times when things aren’t going so well. Music can do this superbly. It can also give us joy, can foster kindness and a sense that, ultimately, everything will be all right.’ This latest album has been named after the healthcare events Hush has hosted since 2016. The Gathering of Kindness bring people working in health and aged care together to talk about ways kindness can flourish in their organisations and services. These events are being hosted throughout November at metro, regional and rural healthcare organisations across Victoria, and include live performances of Hush plays and music, healthcare book launches and panels, narrative and a range of self-care workshops, as well as updates on new research being undertaken. Hush is also hosting a ticketed event at KPMG in Melbourne on Thursday 14 November.›Pianist / composer / critic / author / academic / educator Tony Gould has been involved in music in Australia for over half a century.
