We’d always suspected it – and over the past couple of years, Australians have confirmed it.During 2015, Christopher Lawrence – then presenting ABC Classic FM’s Morning show – began to ask his listeners what Mozart fixed for them. The reaction was instantaneous, and the answer came back loud and clear: everything from broken hearts to dripping taps. Lawrence took the idea with him to the Classic Drive show in 2016, and most recently Classic Breakfast's Phillip Sametz has also started to offer fix-it Mozart moments to listeners busy with the challenges of the weekday morning. Now, in an indispensable album from ABC Classics, a selection of Mozart’s music whose restorative power has been verified by you: the perfect antidote to all life’s woes from the ultimate handyman and heart-healer. We recommend that you keep it close by at all times.Proof from ABC Classic FM listeners that Mozart really does fix everything“Mozart – he's nothing short of a miracle worker. He has just fixed the flat tyre on our wheel barrow!”“He did it! Mozart just finished last Friday's cryptic crossword for me.”“Mozart turned down the volume of the loud person on my bus.”“Mozart fixes the springs in my legs.”“You should know that Mozart has just made my milk-laden corn flakes crunchy again.”“Mozart fixed Monday-itis! Now I’m going to work smiling!”

It’s what’s become vintage Rumjacks; it’s out the gate and straight down to business.Recorded at Bomba Studios in regional Victoria, Sleepin’ Rough, the Sydney quintet’s third album, picks up where 2015’s Sober & Godless left off. Booming from the get-go with ‘Patron Saint Of Thieves’, a thundering punk aesthetic intertwined through the group’s Irish and Scottish musical heritage, this album is full throttle, all spit and bile, raucous and real.

The Australian Voices, known globally for vibrant performances that reflect on contemporary themes, present their tenth album: Reverie.Reverie is a collection of twelve works that bring together themes both banal and transcendent, juxtaposing music that is by turns deeply lyrical and ecstatically ludicrous. A highlight of the album is a setting by the group’s conductor, Gordon Hamilton, of the Elegy – In memoriam Rupert Brooke, written by Australian soldier Frederick Septimus Kelly on the battlefields of Gallipoli and set here to words by Kelly’s close friend Rupert Brooke.Total Political Correctness fast-forwards to politics of the 21st century, presenting Donald Trump’s statements on women set to music by Robert Davidson – which sits alongside Not Now, Not Ever!, a setting of then Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard’s Misogny Speech – a parliamentary condemnation of sexism. The absurd becomes even more literal than Trump himself in Isabella Gerometta’s Words That Turn Into Other Words – a list of words and phrases linked by sound alone. But pure sound is also pure beauty, and in the album’s title track, the choir take on the tradition of konnakol – a South Indian art of singing single syllables.Jazz trumpeter James Morrison is the first of two guest artists, in his own composition Underwater Basket Weaving; percussionist Claire Edwardes features in Graham Lack’s titular A Reverie of Bone.Reverie is a deeply engrossing journey through a kaleidoscope of contemporary culture, politics and sensibility; it’s also a celebration of the humour, nuance and sheer beauty of the human voice.About The Australian VoicesFounded in 1993, The Australian Voices is dedicated to championing new Australian vocal music. The ensemble tours internationally every year, and is also known to millions across the globe through its programme of new works intended specifically for performance on YouTube. The group’s self-titled debut album was received extensive critical praise, and Edition Peters has released a songbook featuring some of the group’s best-loved repertoire. Gordon Hamilton – a leading light in the new generation of composers and conductors – was appointed Artistic Director in 2009. Find out more and watch the choir in action at
