BRAND NEW FESTIVAL BRINGS

COUNTRY MUSIC BACK TO THREDBO

More magic music moments in the mountains as the Thredbo Chamber of Commerce today announced an exciting new festival in the summer event line up.  “Country in the Snowys” will see the return of country music to Thredbo 22-24 March 2013, with some of Australia’s hottest country stars performing.

The picturesque Thredbo Village and summer festivals go hand in hand and this event is set to impress Australian country music lovers with an all-star line-up including THE SUNNY COWGIRLS, JASMINE RAE and the controversial veteran hit maker BUDDY GOODE.

It sometimes seems like THE SUNNY COWGIRLS rose straight from the warm heart of Australia. They radiate sunshine and that dry, laconic, Aussie sense of humour.  Since releasing their debut album in 2009, sisters Sophie and Celeste Clabburn have become renowned for their easy stage charisma - and are gearing up to take Thredbo by storm next March.

2012 CMC Oz Artist of the Year JASMINE RAE has had one of the fastest rising careers of any local artist in recent years. The king of Australian Country Lee Kernaghan described her as ‘the hottest new artist to come out of Australia in a long time’.  A classically trained, two-time ARIA nominated singer with a soulful, powerful voice, the singer-songwriter is ready to rock the mountains.

2012 ARIA winner BUDDY GOODE is quite simply a global country music legend and he is looking forward to bringing his iconic presence to Thredbo Village. The voice of multiple generations and an inspiration to artists as varied as Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley Cyrus, Buddy has made his home in Oz for the past few years and is renowned for his classic hits including “Dickens Cider” and “Cougarville”.

The lineup also includes local stars KIRSTY AKERS, MORGAN EVANS, MIKE CARR, HARRY HOOKEY, PETER MCWHIRTER, JAYNE DENHAM, BOB CORBETT, BAYLOU, KARL BROADIE, DOUG BRUCE & THE TAILGATERS, MARK WELLS, 8 BALL AITKEN, ALEYCE SIMMONDS, CRAIG MORRISON, KAYLENS RAIN, STUIE & CAMILLE and New Zealanders JACKIE BRISTOW and AARON JURY.

“We’re excited to see Country in the Snowys back after a three year break, especially with such a strong line-up of Aussie and NZ artists embracing the new look festival staged throughout Thredbo village,” says Rob Potts, CEO and Managing Director of Rob Potts Entertainment Edge.

“With over 20 fantastic artists, there will be something for everyone and many Aussie favourites playing up a storm” he said.

Thredbo ticks all the boxes for festivals – the venues are a good mix of small and intimate to large and lively, indoor and outdoor. There’s a variety of accommodation options for singles, groups or couples, restaurants and shops plus a village full of things to do including chairlift, 9 hole golf course, mountain biking, bobsled, Leisure Centre all at the foothills of Australia’s highest peak. And everything is within walking distance so once you arrive, leave your car behind and let the good times begin.

What a combination for a top weekend away; experience your very own Thredbo adventure and catch Australia’s top country music talent.

Accommodation and festival packages start at $270pp, early bird tickets are $125 per adult.
