The Boy From The Bush, now one of Australia's most successful artists, Lee Kernaghan celebrates 25 years!

Over 2 Million Albums Sold And Counting

ARIA’s Highest Selling Australian Artist in 2015 Announces His Next Music Project

Over 2 million albums sold in Australia, 34 number 1 hits, 36 Golden Guitar Awards, 4 ARIA awards, recipient of the Outstanding Achievement ARIA Award in 2015, former Australian of the Year and many more accolades too long to list; Lee Kernaghan is one of Australia’s most successful music artists of all time.

In 2017, Lee will celebrate the Silver Anniversary of his ARIA award winning debut album, ‘Outback Club’ (1992), with a very special album release via ABC Music/ UMA titled- “The 25Th Anniversary Album” set for release March 24th.

Lee reminisces,“25 years – Wow!! And what a wild, crazy, incredible ride it has been. It doesn’t seem that long ago I was doing solo shows down in the Riverina, towing a horse float that I used as a band trailer with all my music equipment rattling around in the back. Looking back now I feel so grateful for all the experiences that

have led me to this point and all the legendary people who have come out to the shows and joined me on this ride of a lifetime."

The album sees Lee joined in studio with some of Australia’s finest Country acts including Kasey Chambers,

John Williamson, Troy Cassar-Daley, James Blundell, The Wolfe Brothers, Adam Brand, The McClymonts and Lee’s wife Robby (on a remake of the classic “High Country”). Every song on this album has a true and strong connection to Lee’s 25 year musical journey; whether it be a new song written for the record, or a cover of a previously released song by Lee or another artist.

As Lee describes it, “Over the last 25 years, I've had the opportunity to work with some exceptionally talented singers, songwriters and musicians many of whom I call my mates. So when it came time to make this special

silver Anniversary Album  I wanted to share the occasion by recording new tracks with some of the all-time greats who've played an integral part in the story of my career in music.”

Over the last 25 years Lee has achieved success with releases including Outback Club, Three Chain Road,

1959, Hat Town, Rules Of The Road, Electric Rodeo, New Bush, Ultimate Hits, Spirit Of The Bush, Planet Country, Beautiful Noise and Spirit Of The Anzacs, all which reached platinum or multi-platinum status.

Songs like The Outback Club, Boys From The Bush, Hat Town, She’s My Ute and Australian Boy are now modern day anthems for a generation of Australians living and working on the land.

More recently, in 2015, Lee released his most successful album to date, “Spirit of The Anzacs”. The album was based on the true stories found in letters written by our service men and women over a period spanning from WW1 through to the War in Afghanistan. “Spirit Of The Anzacs” served as a fitting musical tribute to the great Anzac spirit and cemented Lee’s place in Australian musical history when it topped the ARIA album chart and was the highest selling Australian release of the year.

“The ABC’s partnership with Lee Kernaghan dates back to the very beginning of his recording career and the release of Outback Club 25 years ago. Since then he has released all of his albums through ABC Music, and our relationship with him all these years later is stronger than ever. He is not only one of Australia’s most successful music artists, he is also a tireless advocate for regional and rural Australians, bringing national attention to important issues. We hold Lee in the highest regard, and congratulate him on this significant anniversary and on the re-release of this iconic album.”

- Director of ABC Commercial, Robert Patterson

Lee’s 25th Anniversary will be celebrated right throughout the year with not only the launch of “The 25th Anniversary Album”; but with special events that also include an extensive national tour. The national tour will launch on Australia Day with the first star studded show at the Toyota Country Music Festival in Tamworth.

Leaving the final word to Lee Kernaghan; “Looking back, it’s been an epic ride but one I could never have made alone.”
