The Italian ensemble I Musici were instrumental in bringing the Venetian composers Vivaldi and Albinoni back to the attention of the modern world. Today’s ‘authentic’ music movement would never have been born had the group not first spearheaded the ‘Baroque Revival’ in the 1950s.
This outstanding film, directed and choreographed by the legendary Rudolf Nureyev, premiered in Sydney in 1973, had a Royal Gala Performance in London in 1974, went briefly to New York, and despite receiving rave reviews, promptly disappeared.
