Australian Composers Series Volume 3

Five of the great names of Australian music are featured in this new release from ABC Classics. Richard Meale's music traces a path from avant-garde pioneer to poet of lyrical melody; Brett Dean explores notions of loss, struggle, creativity and contemporary culture in his superbly crafted orchestral scores. The Latin rhythms of Malcolm Williamson's Our Man in Havana sparkle with irrepressible energy; the finely etched and richly coloured images of Peggy Glanville-Hicks' Etruscan Concerto evoke the mystery and grandeur of an ancient world, while Gerard Brophy's sensual creations travel from Brazil to the Middle East and beyond.

Recorded as part of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra's APRA Award-winning Australian music program, this 5CD box set, the eagerly-awaited third volume in the TSO's Australian Composers series, presents some of the defining moments in Australian composition.
