Dick & Christa Hughes
An album of classic blues and early jazz of the 1920s and 30s reinterpreted for the 21st Century by jazz pianist Dick Hughes and his daughter Christa. Dick Hughes is one of the undisputed legends of the Australian jazz and blues scene, Christa, who is probably better known for her career in rock n roll, circus and burlesque, proves that she never left behind the music that she first loved, sang and performed as a teenager.
The blues. Featuring songs by Bessie Smith, W.C. Handy, Memphis Slim and Jelly Roll Morton with a truly bizarre yet stunning version of the Basement Jaxx's Good Luck. Guest artists include Jim Conway on harmonica and Bob Barnard on trumpet. The album also includes an authentic New Orleans style funeral band complete with Sousaphone, banjo and bass drum.
